At this point of our lives, we are at an age where almost everything happens online, Covid19 has made social media and the internet our new reality . For some shifting to such new environment can be a herculean task, but I’m positive these tips will be a great tool.

Personally, I haven’t really worked remotely before , and now I have the opportunity working remotely, its a great opportunity to show and hone my skills and churn out content to help anyone who recently got into this environment.

Let’s dive right into tips to thrive in a remote working organisation,

Based off my learnings in 3months, I have come up with the following simple tips :

  • Be Yourself: this is a phrase that is often used yet, poorly expressed. Working remotely requires you to communicate via communication channels like emails, slack, Skype, zoom, teams and the likes, you need to be able to develop touch points with colleagues since physical meetings cannot be done.
  • Creativity: bringing out your creative sides is a good way to go as it portrays intelligence, wit and depth of what is been talked about.
  • Develop Emotional Intelligence : this is an important aspect of human relations, and can also be learned. Emotional Intelligence is a skill that working remotely requires, not seeing physically but communicating online, understanding what is been said and implenting tasks.
  • Clarify tasks : clarifying tasks assigned to you and your responsibilities are also important, because you do not want to do what has not assigned to you or to do it the wrong way, which may come off as not adhering to instructions.
  • Personal Development : taking your self development seriously has a way of honing/sharpening your skills. You get to increase your knowledge on your career, be up to date with trends and news, have more confidence as you have a new way of thinking provided from your research and studying.
  • Learn Unlearn and Relearn: this is a skill that most people lack, as the word goes learn, unlearn and relearn we need to learn new skills, be open to asking questions where unsure, unlearn the things we thought we knew, and relearn the relevant skills to advance our career.
